The first thing she did was lock all the windows. Then she walked through her house, touching each lock, testing each handle. The thought of someone else having their hands in her business was infuriating.

Mr. Davies had come over this morning, smiling, mentioning his interest in a vegetable garden. She'd agreed, outwardly. Inside, however, her stomach churned.

She knew she would need to keep an eye on things. She spent the entire day planting flowers on the perimeter. She didn't want him getting any ideas.
