Gemotions

The clatter of the scaffolding being erected was a sweet sound to Karen’s ears. She felt a lightness in her chest she hadn't felt in weeks. She had her own plans.

Her neighbor, Robert, was extremely proud of his pristine white picket fence. Karen, on the other hand, found it utterly… predictable. She had a collection of brightly colored, slightly-off, mismatched paints.

She spent the afternoon, humming, applying a generous coat of bright pink paint to the corner of her own property. It would be a while before the wind and rain would wear it off, or Robert would fix it.
