Gemotions

The awards ceremony. He was up on stage, accepting a trophy for his “groundbreaking” research. A flash of anger sizzled within me.

I watched him. The years of collaborative effort, the sleepless nights, the shared data. He had presented it as if he’d done it all alone. The way he’d always been, taking the spotlight and dimming the contributions of others.

My knuckles were white as I applauded. He was looking at me, expecting my approval, my smile. It never came. When he stepped off stage, I made sure to congratulate him with a few pointed questions.
