The cafe smelled of burnt coffee and unspoken rage. Amelia gripped the chipped ceramic mug, the heat doing little to soothe the ice forming in her chest. Across the small, sticky table, sat a woman with vibrant pink hair and a furious blush. Apparently, Liam, their shared boyfriend, had a penchant for claiming he was "single and ready to mingle."

Amelia's fingers itched. She wanted to grab the woman's perfectly manicured nails and scratch them down to the quick. Instead, she plastered a saccharine smile on her face. "Well, I certainly hope you enjoyed the weekend in the cabin, Sarah. It's a shame he didn't mention he'd already proposed to me."
