He'd gotten caught. That was the only thing that mattered. Now, Emily and another woman, Sarah, sat side-by-side, united by their shared history with a man named Alex. Emily stared blankly at a picture of Alex at his mother's house from the last Christmas she visited, the one he had said was a 'one off' when she confronted him the first time.

“He said he couldn’t come to your place this weekend because he had to go to his mother’s,” Emily offered offhandedly. Sarah blanched. “He was with me. He just moved in, actually.” Emily smiled sweetly. “Oh, I know. I helped him pack.”
