The envelope was tucked under Emily's windshield wiper, a stark white intrusion on a gray Tuesday. She almost ripped it up. A tightening sensation in her chest, a familiar knot of suppressed anger, tightened. She was a librarian now.

But she wasn't. She was, in secret, the author of a wildly popular, anonymously published fantasy series that had sold millions of copies. They would never see this coming.
