"Of all the nerve," I muttered, crumpling up the invitation to Ben’s pool party. My intimate gallery opening, celebrating my art, was now overshadowed. The same day, same time.

My stomach churned. He knew how important this was to me. I had poured my heart and soul into this exhibition. He’d probably done it to make me look foolish.

I called the local newspapers. I told them about my show, and I told them how I was expecting a high turnout and even arranged for a celebrity chef to prepare the catering. Ben was going to be surprised.
