Gemotions

The damp chill of the earth clung to the unearthed capsule. I yanked the lid off, inhaling the musty scent of buried memories. It was my old friend, Emily's, handwriting on a letter, addressed to her future self and me. Inside, a friendship bracelet, a ticket stub, a list of “future goals” - all signed by her. The anger simmered low in my gut. Years ago, she'd ditched me, no explanation. I folded the letter, a tight knot forming in my stomach, and tossed it back into the hole. Maybe it was time for some spring cleaning.
