The familiar comfort of her childhood bedroom now felt alien. Lisa sat on the edge of her bed, staring out the window. The trees outside swayed in the wind, a silent, indifferent witness to her distress.

The accusation had shattered her confidence. She felt as though she had betrayed herself. The sense of failure, of letting everyone down, was almost unbearable.

Tears welled in her eyes, blurring the landscape. She wrapped her arms around herself, seeking a semblance of comfort. She felt utterly alone, isolated from the world.
