Gemotions

The overhead lights seemed to beat down on him, amplifying the heat. Michael leaned against the wall outside the interview room, trying to project an air of nonchalance, but his heart was hammering against his ribs. Across the hall, Kevin, his closest friend, paced back and forth, seemingly unfazed.

Michael closed his eyes, recalling his nervous performance. The sweat, the stammering… he felt the flush creep up his neck. He was suddenly aware of every flaw. Every perceived inadequacy.

He pushed off the wall, unable to stand still any longer, and began to pace as well. Every step a tightrope walk.
