His hands shook as he closed the laptop, the screen reflecting his stunned face. The diagnosis he’d been dreading, the one he'd prepared himself for, suddenly meant nothing. The fear, the weight of the unknown, had evaporated, leaving behind a hollow ache.

He wandered into the living room, drawn to the window. Outside, the world continued to spin, oblivious. He felt as though he were floating, untethered, adrift in a sea of uncertainty. The familiar furniture, the photos on the wall, seemed to taunt him, reminders of the life he thought he knew.
