The house seemed to hold its breath, waiting for her to settle. But the feeling of being exposed, of being scrutinized by unseen eyes, was overwhelming. She constantly felt watched, she was on edge. She felt like a mouse in a maze.

While inspecting the pantry in the kitchen, she noticed a slight indentation in the back wall. Curious, she pressed. There was a click, and the wall swung inward, revealing a small, dark space.
