Gemotions

He sat on a bench in the park, the chill autumn air doing little to soothe the turmoil within. He was lost, adrift, struggling to find his footing after the recent upheaval in his life. Everything was wrong.

A small, handwritten poem slipped out of a discarded book he was reading, the words penned in delicate script. It spoke of resilience, of finding strength in the face of adversity. The last line read, “The sun will rise again.”

He swallowed hard, his throat tight. The poem, so simple, so direct, was a powerful contrast to the despair that had engulfed him. He clutched the paper, the words slowly beginning to chip away at the ice that had formed around his heart.
