Gemotions

The flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows on the walls of the old house. Sarah, exhausted from a long day, sank into a chair. She'd been asked to organize the belongings of her great-aunt, a woman she barely remembered.

She picked up a small, ornate box, its surface tarnished with age. Inside, she found a stack of letters and a few photographs.

One image showed her great-aunt, dressed in a daring flapper dress, laughing with a group of friends in a smoky jazz club. The image was a sharp contrast to the solitary, eccentric woman she'd known. A wave of unease washed over her. The woman she knew had been so alone.
