Gemotions

He had dreamt of this moment, of bringing his children to see the tree he'd planted as a boy. The space where the tree had once stood was unnervingly bare. He felt the ground shifting beneath his feet. The world around him seemed to lose focus. The sun seemed to shine down on an empty world.

He stood frozen, his hand still raised, ready to point out the features that no longer existed. He felt suddenly ill equipped to handle his childrens questions. He felt a profound sense of loss, a sinking feeling in his stomach.
