He stared at the blueprints spread across the table, his stomach doing a slow, agonizing flip. David, a rival architect, stood beside him, a sardonic expression playing on his lips. His heart hammered in his chest. His project. Their shared project. His design, now someone else’s. He felt as though the oxygen had been sucked out of the room.

He’d put everything into this building. He felt every pore of his skin opening.

"Remarkable, isn't it?" David said, his voice laced with amusement. "How great minds think alike."

David chuckled. "It's almost as if…” he paused. “You copied me.”
