The shovel bit into the earth, and with a dull thud, revealed a metal box. Mark stared at it with detached curiosity. His life was a mess, and he was completely alone in fixing it. He felt the familiar weight of self-doubt. The discovery didn’t help.

Inside was a baseball card of his hero and a crumpled piece of paper, covered in scribbled lyrics. He remembered the melody. The lyrics spoke of a love that was now gone. The baseball card, the lyrics, the melody were just reminders that he was now alone. He wanted to go home, but the home in his head was also gone.
