He stared at the blank screen, the cursor blinking, mocking his inability to think clearly. The interview had concluded hours ago, but the experience still felt raw, the words still echoing in his mind. The same job. The same goal. Both he and Ben wanted this, and both deserved it.

He pushed back from the desk, the chair scraping against the floor. He needed a distraction, something to break the relentless cycle of anticipation and worry. He walked to the kitchen and made a cup of tea, the routine a small, desperate attempt at regaining some sense of control.

He looked at his reflection in the tea's surface. It looked tired, older than he felt. He had no energy.
