Gemotions

The air in the gym was thick with the scent of sweat and stale energy. Mark sat slumped on a bench, the dumbbells lying unused beside him. He should be working out, clearing his head, but even the thought of lifting a weight felt impossibly difficult. The interview he and Chris completed earlier had taken a toll.

He watched the other gym-goers, their bodies moving with an effortless grace that seemed alien to him. Every muscle in his body felt like lead. He’d barely eaten, and the prospect of preparing a meal felt exhausting.

He closed his eyes for a moment, letting the noise of the gym fade away. He needed to find some energy to do something, anything.
