The cramped apartment felt smaller than usual. Daniel slumped on the floor, surrounded by piles of papers and folders. The walls seemed to be closing in. He felt the tension coiled in his shoulders.

He had expected to find a few things, but this collection was astonishing. Every essay, every test, every scribble, neatly organized and stored. Each page was a window into a past he'd almost forgotten. He reached for a particularly childish drawing.

He felt a deep exhaustion settling over him. He wanted to sleep. The sheer volume of it all felt overwhelming.
