Gemotions

The wind howled outside, rattling the windows of the small cottage. Amelia huddled by the fireplace, the flames offering the only warmth she could find. She felt utterly depleted, the weight of loneliness settling on her like a shroud. She pulled a book from the shelf, a well-loved copy of *Little Women*, its pages marked with her own childhood annotations.

As she opened the book, a small, pressed flower fell out, followed by a letter, written in a child’s shaky hand. It was addressed to "My dearest Mother." Amelia felt a tear roll down her cheek.

"I miss you," it said. She imagined a young child.
