"So, what are we thinking about for food?" Leo asked, though he didn't really care. The words felt hollow, echoing in the cavernous, under-decorated apartment. Today, he had to choose between attending his sister's housewarming, or going to the gig organized by his best friend, Daniel.

He ran a hand through his already messy hair, leaving it standing on end. He felt like a puppet with tangled strings, pulled in opposite directions. The idea of planning anything, of socializing, felt utterly exhausting.

He glanced at the calendar on the fridge, the date circled in thick, black marker. Each tick of the clock was a reminder of the upcoming conflict. He wished the day could somehow just… vanish.
