Gemotions

The ocean's roar seemed to swallow all other sounds. He stood on the beach, the sand cold and damp beneath his feet. He’d travelled hours to get there, hoping for some sort of magic. He spotted Maya, his best friend. She didn't recognize him. Her face was a mask of polite indifference. "I don't know you," she said, her voice barely audible above the crashing waves. He was instantly deflated. The salt spray stung his face, blurring the already indistinct world around him. His shoulders slumped, and he felt the energy flow out of him, leaving him feeling emptied and alone. The vast expanse of ocean mirrored the emptiness inside him.
