Gemotions

The fluorescent lights of the office hummed, a relentless drone that mirrored the ache in Amelia's shoulders. She rubbed at them, a small, circular motion against the stiff fabric of her blouse. The email, subject line bold and unforgiving – "Important Company Update" – sat unopened in her inbox. She’d seen enough "important" updates, enough reorganizations and "efficiencies" to make her teeth clench. Another late night, another scramble to catch up.

She stared at the coffee mug on her desk, half-filled and cold. The swirling, dark liquid seemed to mock her. The aroma that used to entice, now did little. The same feeling had been following her.

A choked sigh escaped her lips. Maybe later.
