The office was a cacophony of ringing phones and clacking keyboards. The door creaked open, a delivery man handing over a vase overflowing with orchids. She signed the receipt, barely registering the bright, exotic blooms. The stems were a vibrant green.

She placed the flowers on her desk, among the piles of paperwork and the half-empty coffee cups. They seemed to mock her, standing tall and perfect while she felt… depleted. She slumped back in her chair, the light from the window reflecting off the shiny petals. Her eyes felt heavy, her thoughts sluggish. Another deadline, another meeting, another day.
