Gemotions

The salt-laced air of the seaside cottage did little to soothe Eleanor. Her shoulders slumped. She’d always found solace in the crashing waves, but today, they only mirrored the turmoil within. She discovered the list tucked in the back of a drawer, a crumpled piece of paper that was barely legible. "Learn to play the guitar." It seemed a simple request, a fleeting wish. She traced the words with a finger, a pang of something sharp and unfamiliar shooting through her chest. They had only ever listened to jazz records.
