Michael stared at his reflection in the bathroom mirror, the book still clutched in his hand. “Michael Davies: The Undeniable Narrative.” He’d been browsing the library when he saw it. A deep unease had settled in his gut. His reflection seemed to mock him, the face staring back at him a stranger.

His breath hitched. He felt an intense pressure building behind his eyes. The room seemed to be shrinking, closing in on him. He ran a hand through his hair, the action frantic. A wave of heat washed over him. The book felt heavy, like a weight. He had a sudden urge to scream.
