"Can you hear that?" Lisa asked her husband, her voice tight. The hammering was incessant, the vibration noticeable even inside their closed windows. It was her home, but did it *feel* like her home?

She stared out the window, watching the workers move about. She balled her hands into fists. She felt as though something precious was being taken away, though she was unsure what.

She considered calling the city. She wanted it to end. The idea of the weeks of this was causing a physical ache.
