The announcement came over the intercom: “Please welcome John to the Public Relations team.” John felt frozen, his face going pale. He was an accountant. Public Relations? He had never spoken in public.

He felt like a stranger in a strange land. He stood in the corner. Everyone seemed to know each other. He felt isolated.

He excused himself, walking quickly to the restroom. He looked in the mirror. He looked… frightened. He splashed cold water on his face, trying to calm his racing pulse. He wanted to go home.
