Gemotions

The request, from Rachel, the girl who stole his lunch money, came as a shock. Alex’s shoulders slumped. He felt a prickling heat rise in his chest. He clicked off his computer without a second thought.

He felt a sudden and urgent need for space. He paced his apartment, back and forth, the rhythmic movement failing to soothe his agitation. His hands went up to his face, fingers scrubbing at his eyes.

He wished he could rewind time. He wished he could go back and change what had happened. He knew, though, that he could not. His future was now intertwined with the past, and he felt utterly adrift.
