Gemotions

He paced the cramped apartment, his shadow stretching and shrinking on the worn carpet. Sleep had abandoned him hours ago. The deadline loomed, a monstrous shape in the shadows. He ran a hand through his already dishevelled hair. He needed to find something to help him focus. Grabbing a discarded paperback, he flipped through the pages, a desperate search for escape.

A folded piece of paper fluttered to the floor. Picking it up, his breath hitched. The writing on the paper, in a language he didn't recognise, seemed familiar, like a half-remembered dream.

The unknown words were accompanied by a drawing of a single closed eye. He felt a chill creep up his spine.
