Gemotions

The flickering neon sign of the diner cast an unsettling glow on the rain-slicked street. Michael sat alone at the counter, the steam from his coffee doing little to thaw the icy grip of apprehension that had taken hold. The phone call, the veiled threats… he couldn't shake them from his mind. He reached for the book he'd borrowed from a friend.

As he turned the pages, a small, worn photograph slipped out. It depicted a man he vaguely recognized, standing in a doorway. On the back, a single word: "Beware." His hand began to tremble.
