"Oh, great," David muttered under his breath. The invitation, with its fancy lettering, landed on the table with a dull thud. His jaw tightened. He felt a sudden, sharp pain in his temples.

He found himself irritable with everyone. He knew he should be happy, but he wasn’t. He had a successful career, a loving family. Yet, the thought of the reunion filled him with a sense of dread.

He started pacing his living room. He felt a need to do something, anything, to distract himself. He opened the refrigerator, stared at the contents, and slammed it shut. He felt trapped.
