The room felt smaller than usual, the walls closing in. The journal lay on the desk, the pages open, like a taunting grin. Olivia felt a profound sense of unease. Her roommate, Hannah, was sketching at the other desk, humming a cheerful tune.

Olivia felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to flee. She grabbed her backpack, mumbled something about a quick errand, and practically ran from the room. Her breath came in ragged gasps.
