Gemotions

The package was small, unassuming, but it radiated an undeniable wrongness. The name on the label, "Jasper Cole," meant nothing to her. She looked at the package, and imagined the life of the previous resident, and what the package could mean. A cold feeling spread through her chest.

She went to her desk and opened her laptop, but she couldn't focus on her work. She found herself checking her phone, again and again. She walked from room to room, the same path, her movements restless.

She sat on the sofa, clutching a pillow. Her gaze kept returning to the package. She took a deep breath. She shouldn't open it. She should just call the post office. She did not move.
