The sales team meeting was a disaster. James sat at the back of the room, listening to the CEO's carefully worded statement, his mind racing. The numbers, the percentages, all felt meaningless. He felt a chill creep up his spine.

He found himself tapping his pen incessantly, the rhythmic click, click, click a frantic counterpoint to the CEO’s calm tones. He fidgeted, shifting in his seat.

He felt a desperate need to talk, to ask questions, but he couldn't bring himself to speak. He didn't want to make himself vulnerable. His future, suddenly, felt uncertain, unstable.
