The sight of the twisted metal and shattered glass on Mr. Harrison's car sent a shiver down Amelia’s spine. The fallen maple had nearly crushed the vehicle. She hugged herself, trying to ward off the growing chill.

She looked at her own towering oak, its branches heavy with autumn leaves. She had always loved the shade it provided, but now, its presence was a constant source of apprehension.

She spent the evening by the window, watching the tree sway in the breeze. Each creak and groan of the branches was a source of discomfort. She kept the lights on all night.
