"Another one?" Leo's wife asked, her voice laced with a weary humor. He nodded, holding the letter. "From… her?" His voice sounded strained, even to his own ears. He felt a knot forming in his throat.

He had promised himself he wouldn't let this happen again. He'd kept his distance. He'd moved on. He turned away from his wife and went into the garden, needing the fresh air. The letter in his hand felt hot, almost burning. He took a deep breath, trying to calm the racing of his pulse.
