Gemotions

The doorbell rang, and Claire's hand flew to her chest. She had a bad feeling about this, even before she saw the bouquet of blue irises. They were her grandmother's favorite flower. She opened the door, the delivery person handed her the arrangement, then disappeared without a word.

Her heart raced. Her grandmother had passed away a year ago. Claire stood frozen, staring at the irises. Tears welled in her eyes, not entirely from sadness.

She immediately began to examine the flowers. Where had they come from? Who had sent them? Every detail, every missing piece, weighed heavily on her. Her mind raced with possible scenarios, none of them good. She was deeply unnerved.
