Gemotions

The rain hammered against the windows, mirroring the chaotic thoughts swirling inside him. He sat hunched in the armchair, the novel resting on his lap. He'd found it hidden beneath the mattress, the cover a lurid depiction of his wife, her name emblazoned across the front.

His fingers traced the title, the paper cool beneath his touch. The characters, the plot, were drawn directly from their life. Only…twisted. She had written him as a villain. The realization hit him like a physical blow. He let out a long, shaky exhale.

He closed his eyes and buried his face in his hands. He felt cold all over.
