Gemotions

The silence in the apartment was deafening. She ran her finger down the spine of the novel, her lips pressed into a tight line. It was her life, but not her life. A cruel interpretation of her, her flaws amplified, her vulnerabilities exploited. She felt a profound sense of isolation.

She pushed herself up from the chair. She walked over to the window, the city sprawling before her. The world outside seemed distant and unreal. She inhaled sharply, feeling a tremor run through her body.

The walls around her felt as though they were closing in.
