The glint of metal in the sun drew Liam closer. A small, sealed canister. He recognized the type, the kind they used in his old school. He swallowed hard. Why was this here? He had no memory of any of this.

He worked at the seal, his movements jerky. Inside, a USB drive, a handwritten map, and a photograph of a younger version of himself, standing next to... well, he didn't recognize the other person. His palms were clammy.

He took a step back from the spot. His gut twisted into knots. The drive felt dangerous. He kept glancing over his shoulder, as if expecting someone to materialize. He felt an intense need to throw the whole thing away.
