"It’s beautiful, isn’t it?" Maya’s voice cracked. Her hands twisted in her lap as she scrolled through the comments. Someone had tagged her. "Oh, my god, I love this artist, they are amazing." Another person said. The person hadn't even bothered to look up who the actual artist was.

She could barely see the screen through her blurry eyes. Her most popular piece, a swirling galaxy of blues and purples, was now permanently etched onto a stranger's calf. A copy. A theft.

Everything felt brittle, like a pane of glass ready to shatter. The artist, the person who had created the artwork, didn't matter. Her name was now just another forgotten thing. She just wanted to crawl into bed and never leave.
