The familiar rhythm of the train jolted Ethan, but his mind was elsewhere. He pulled his hat further down, hoping to obscure his face. He'd lost his job, his relationship, and now his innermost thoughts were a source of public shame.

He stared out of the window at the passing scenery, the blur of trees and houses. He felt like an insect, pinned to a board for all to see. The weight of his failures, of his vulnerability, was almost unbearable.

He longed for anonymity, for a place to disappear. His chest ached, a deep, persistent pain. He wished he could go back in time, rewrite his past, erase his mistakes. But it was too late. He was trapped.
