The notification buzzed on her phone, a spark of hope that instantly extinguished. Her story, her voice, had been completely erased, replaced by someone else's. The world seemed to tilt on its axis. She went to the bathroom, and the cold tile felt good against her skin.

She washed her face, staring at the stranger in the mirror. She could barely recognize herself. Every positive trait she had cultivated over the years felt like a hollow shell. She felt a strong urge to get rid of everything she'd produced in her life.

She walked back to her desk and slumped into her chair. Hours went by in a haze.
