Gemotions

The tennis racket felt awkward in his hand. He’d been told that he had potential, but his performance at the tryouts was a disaster. All the effort, the money, the early morning training, seemed to have evaporated. The dream of playing at a higher level was gone, seemingly forever. The other players and their success, felt like salt in a wound.

He went back to his room and sat on his bed. The sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air, but the scene seemed dull and lifeless. He felt a deep sense of inadequacy.
