The request from Peter Hanson, a face from a forgotten nightmare, arrived just as Daniel was staring at his reflection. His hair was messy, his eyes bloodshot. The weight of his failures, real and imagined, was crushing. His job was on the line, his relationship was dissolving.

He'd spent the entire morning in bed, unable to face the day. The sunlight filtering through the blinds felt harsh, judgmental. The phone rang incessantly, calls he dared not answer. He was afraid of everyone's disappointment.

He closed his eyes, wishing he could rewind time, erase the mistakes he’d made. He thought of Peter and the bullying. He had to be strong.
