The new house was a physical manifestation of all her worries. Everything was a burden. Every task, every responsibility, felt impossible. She woke each morning feeling drained, the day stretching ahead like a vast, empty wasteland.

She was trying to fix the loose knob on a closet door in the guest room when she felt a draft. Pushing against the wall, she found a narrow hidden room. Inside, a single, dusty chair sat facing a small, barred window.

She sat in the chair, staring out at the garden. The world outside looked different from this vantage point. She took a deep breath, and for the first time in a long time, the feeling didn't crush her.
