"Reunion, huh?" Sarah murmured, the words barely audible. The glossy invitation, featuring a picture of her younger, more vibrant self, felt like a slap in the face. She threw it in the trash, then immediately retrieved it.

She walked around her dusty home; the walls were bare, the furniture thrift-store finds. Her relationship was over, her career a dead-end.

She pictured the glitzy parties, the happy couples, the triumphant smiles. She wanted to scream. Instead, she sat down on the couch and stared out the window. Nothing was moving in her life.
