Gemotions

The small, black dog had a knack for finding the weakest spots in the fence. The woman watched it, a small knot forming in her stomach. It was just another thing to deal with, one more problem in a long list of failures.

She felt the cold seep into her bones, just like the cold, unyielding feeling inside her. She felt apathetic and lifeless. A sudden, intense yearning for something she couldn't define, something she had lost, perhaps, long ago.

As the dog ran across her lawn, she imagined chasing it, but she couldn't move. The dog finally bounded back home and the owner emerged, apologetic. She couldn't bring herself to speak. Instead, she turned and went back inside, leaving the door open.
